Laser hair removal is the process of permanently removing body hair by destroying the hair follicle with a laser.

The Motus Ay has a Nd:YAG laser, the highest wavelength of all the commonly used hair removal lasers. This increased wavelength means that there is less absorption into the epidermal melanin reducing skin heating and potential skin damage.

Laser hair removal works by destroying hair follicles. The melanin (colour) in the follicles absorbs the light from the laser which, over a course of treatment, damages the follicle enough that it significantly reduces or even completely stops hair growth.

Not only can you permanently remove body hair with this laser, but it can also be used to treat fungal nail infections, warts, discoloured areas of skin, varicose veins, and acne, and can even be used to tighten the skin.

The new Motus Ay is the world’s first and only pain-free laser hair removal machine to use the two gold standard lasers in the field — TRUE Alexandrite and Nd YAG. This means that all skin types (1–6) can now benefit from effective, pain-free laser hair removal. (Note: unfortunately laser hair removal does not work on grey or very light blonde hair due to the lack of pigment.)

How to prepare for laser hair removal:

• Do not wax or get hair plugs in the area to be treated.
• Do not apply fake tan to the area to be treated.
• Do not tan before your laser treatment. If you have tanned you will need to wait 2 weeks before getting laser hair removal.
• If you take medication that causes skin photosensitivity please make Jimmy aware as this may mean you are unsuitable for laser hair removal.
• Please shave the area to be lasered with a new sterile blade.

How to care for your skin after laser hair removal:

• Do not have a hot shower for 48 hours after your appointment. If you want to shower keep the water as cool as possible (but not freezing cold).
• Do not go to the gym, the sauna, use tanning beds or expose the treated area to the sun for 48 hours.
• When going out, cover the treated area with clothing and/or wear SPF 50 sunscreen. This is VERY IMPORTANT to ensure your skin is kept safe.
